Rapid Chemical Identification

CASS is an innovative chemical identification tool used for inspecting and measuring the contents in sealed containers.  CASS uses a series of ultrasonic pulses to measure the acoustic signature of a liquid.  By using, CASS inspectors can quickly examine typical chemical containers including drums, barrels, pipelines and tanker trucks, without physically opening the container.  In addition, inspectors can more efficiently comply with Site Security Guidelines by easily detecting products that have been tampered with, hidden compartments and submerged contraband.

Rapid, Risk-Free and Cost-Effective Chemical Identification
The primary benefit of CASS is its ability to determine content without opening containers This not only avoids health and safety risks associated with human handling of potentially hazardous materials, it also allows for a more secure chemical plant.

Another benefit of CASS is its ability to distinguish similar from dissimilar container contents.  This allows for swift dispatch of large numbers of containers presented as a single product, allowing acceptable containers to move quickly through inspection while suspicious or mislabeled containers are targeted for a more thorough analysis. Such sorting reduces requirements for expensive, time-consuming direct sampling and laboratory analysis.  Once CASS has determined the acoustic signature of a known chemical, it can identify that chemical in any other container.

Reliable, Real-World Track Record
CASS is fast and easy to use in the field under various weather conditions. Numerous units have been deployed for enforcement and policy activities supporting treaty verifications, export control, illicit drug interdiction, and interdiction of materials associated with weapons of mass destruction. Early models were used for chemical weapons inspections by United Nations inspectors in Iraq and by On-Site Inspection Agency inspectors for the U.S.-Russia Bilateral Treaty. The U.S. law enforcement community has also used this technology in drug interdiction operations.

  • Identify liquid chemicals in sealed containers to confirm contents match shipping documents.
  • Inspect incoming trucks and detect contraband (explosives) in tanks, drums and or truck’s fuel tanks.
  • Detect fill levels, confirm quantities received without opening
  • Sort drums, barrels and other liquid containers.

CASS is available in two versions.  For more information on CASS Click Here to Download a PDF Brochure.
